Have i missed something or wot, I've converted this 1.3 - 16v with carbs still using the standard 1.3 loom and adding the ecu, The carbs have been set up properly with all new jets etc, I've put new leads on, new coil, new distributor, new ecu and ignition amp thing but i still have a misfire as soon as i go in to fith gear on steady revs if i boot it its ok, The man who done the rolling road tune sain that the dwel angle is all over the place on tick over and goes straight as soon as throttle is applied. Presume you have a vacuum feed to the ECU ok, yes?

The feed has been taken off the side of the manifold teed off the servo pipe. So i take it that the 1.3 loom is ok to use then?

where have you taken the vac signal from??

behind a one barrel per cylinder carb butterfly can be turbulent place, and different to what the ecu is expecting, the 16v has large inlet manifold, quite a bit of volume there.....

if this does turn out to be a prob, there is a vac resovior on the driver models which could smooth things out.

just out of curiosity, you didnt have it set up with filter socks on then drive around without them did you?

i once lent my socks to a m8 and my car wouldnt drive properly [:s] put em back on and it was spot on again.

I dont have filters on yet, Could this be the problem? It doesn't misfire on the rollers but it does when driving.

filter socks rob you of quite a bit of power, but you need something or the engine will be fecked in no time

Well it only misfires on steady driving around 70 ish so would the air forcing itself in the carb make it miss.

Check the distributor drive. If it's damaged it may be osccilating at low revs.

Thanks all for your help I've now sorted it. To much air intake, All i'd done was put a small peice of mdf behind the gril to reduce the air intake hey presto no misfire, All i have to do now is get some filters.

i just read this thread and was about to say if your NOT running filters then its the air flow into the carbs.
Mine was doing this, we set it up great on the rollers but drive it down the road and its missed like mad.I did the same as you, a sheet of plastic behind the grill solved it.Now with the sock filters its smoothed it out even more and ive removed the plastic.
