ok, as per my comment in the thread below, we may as well have a competition rather than none. I have tried to choose a broad but still interesting/challenging subject. by the 30th of this month, submit your MACRO pictures to me by PM sorted.
Do they have to be taken within that month or any that have been taken previously. By macro I take it they have to be close-ups
Just had a look at the definition of Macro photography, it says an image that is the same size as the subject in real life, I assume it also covers images that are larger than they are in real life?
yes, they have to be taken after the subject has been announced regarding macro, i always thought it was a close up picture of something
Could i suggest that the winner of this month's comp chooses the topic for next month's That way the same person doesn't have to try to think of a new subject all the time. A big to Wez for all the trouble he went to organising all the previous ones, I feel guilty for not making more of an effort & entering more often
tis a plan. The good thing with not having the same subject is you get different peoples takes on things. Macro is hard with a standard lens but i will give it a bash. It will DEF be close up, just might not be in focus
thought about this yesterday....... know exactly what im going to shoot - just waiting on the right time
Good job i got my camera yesterday, got a week or so to actually get a good picture out of it What are the rules on post-processing? I don't have the ability to do any but thought i'd check, can you crop the image etc.?
Once you start churning out photos from a decent camera, you'll probably find you start criticising your own work. Get yourself a decent package for editing - you can pick up a secondhand copy of Photoshop Elements 7 for about 30 on Amazon. It is simple to use but quite powerful. And a bit of cropping and levelling can make a good picture outstanding. Some of the improvements can be done automatically, but if you want to use some of the advanced features, you only need to come on here and ask. I've sent my photo entry in - one taken on my compact, for a change!
You're right there, looks ace when i take the picture then when i put it on my PC and hit "full size" i think what the hell have i taken Got a copy of photoshop on the way to me, not sure which one until i get it later but it's free as a friend had it lying around, these are my efforts so far (none of them going in the comp); http://www.flickr.com/photos/james_fabian/sets/72157621684957122/
