The mk2 needs a head unit, pref black, cheap as chips really but not some tin pot humpa junk and must play mp3s pref off a memory stick, the sound system in the mk2 isnt a mad install, just some inifinity 6x9s on a stelth shelf and will have a new set of speakers in the doors soon, the cars mainly a trackday fun toy the sound systems only there to stop me going mad on the way to work / shows / trackdays any reccomendations?

I am selling this one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290422311768&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT It will proberly go for around 30-40 (Doesnt have usb port)
What`s your budget? Just fitted an Alpine CDE 113BT in the GF`s Lupo. Built in Parrot Bluetooth handsfree, full iPod/iPhone control, and USB port. 180 delivered from Car Audio Direct.
I bought a Pioneer Bluetooth/Ipod/USB stick head unit that also acts as a hands free mobile kit - from Car Audio Direct - for about 160 I think. I had one problem with it which was sorted under warranty. It sounds easily good enough for a rattly old Scirocco. It was this one - which is now 10 cheaper than I paid. http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-deh-6100bt.html If you don't want the hands free option, there are cheaper ones: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-deh-3200ub.html
90 posted brand the the same kenwood jobbie I have and sounds great in the mk4 on stock speakers. No problems so far and always using USB sticks with ease. Never spent more than 100 on a headunit as my mates expensive one's never seem massively different when using fairly standard speakers, but guess they sound better on good speakers
You are paying for the high powered amps in them that aren't as good as a proper amp anyway and fancy multicoloured pictures on the really expensive stuff.
I was cheap and got one of these http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_720591_langId_-1_categoryId_165474 does what I need, I have had a JVC before and got on with it, the set up is only basic being 2 front speakers (which need upgrading) and pair of 6x9s on a stelth shelf which comes out for trackdays etc etc,
