my car has started making a single "clunk" type noise when i let the clutch up. It has recently had a pair of s/h driveshafts and there was not much play in the CV joints. it has also started jerking badly when the revs go below 2k when coasting, drop the clutch, or go back on the gas, and it is fine. any ideas? I'm thinking engine mounts (it has a solid type motorsport front mount but I've not checked the rear/g'box mounts) or a loose subframe bolt????
Subframe bolt you can normally hear where it's coming from - but it sounds more like engine mounts (probably the front one), as PB said......
It does sound like it is coming from drivers side footwell which was why i was thinking subframe bolt, guess i should check it soon
there is a quick and easy ish fix if you dont mind cutting a hole in the carpet , they are covered by mats anyway so i'm not too fussed. if it stays dry i may have a play tonight, but i need to get fuelled up first with cheap coop lager and egg sausage and chips
can I suggest the shock on the engine?I had that loose, and it did clunk...try to grab the engine, and give it some wanks! (oh dear... this spelling just freaking kills me ) Edited by: HidRo
not the rear subframe bolts, wheel or hub nuts, damn I'm going to have to jack it up and check it properly tomorrow.
