Sorry if this is in wrong thread but electrical thrrad doesn't get a great deal of viewing, im after a code reader ideally sub 100 to read some codes if need be on family's array of vw/seats and I'm about to complete my AUM 1.8t into a ce2mk2 golf so like to have one for when I fire it up, I've looked at so many inc foxwell 500 (although it's 140) and seems ideal , cheers all

You can use a cheap (<10) eBay cable with VCDS lite - http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/download/index.php which you have the option of registering to unlock fault code definitions and be able to view more measuring blocks. (For example you won't be able to log boost with the shareware/free versions)

However these don't support CAN vehicles (2004>) So fine for up to (most) mk4 Golf platform stuff.

For VCDS/vag-com on newer vehicles you need a CAN supported interface, I've been out of the loop with these things and see now that the cheapest is over 200 and vin limited to 3 vehicles! https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VCV23_9.html#product_information - further options on that page.

Looks like the NT500 is out of stock at Gendan, not searched for it elsewhere, it's been replaced by a 510 on there (169)

    Edit - 500 on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Foxwell-NT500-Skoda-System-Diagnostic/dp/B00U7LMFDM 127.50

Really depends on the ages of the cars you need to scan.
