Right i have a mk2 golf. Currently i have a sony mini-disk player with upgraded 4*6 in the back. I am after fitting some speakers in the front door pods and some tweeters in the dash area. Are components speakers with tweeters??? and if so which should i go for??

    I have a small budget

    Cheers

    hello,

yip u r right, component sets come as seperate speakers, so...

    a 2way comp set has a midbass/midrange speaker and a tweeter.

a 3way comp set has a midbass speaker, a midrange speaker, and a tweeter. usually 3ways are much higher in price.

which type of music do u like to listen to and how much do u have to spend?

    :)

you usually run the2 wires from the amp/stereo to a cross over..that then splits the sound/wires off onto the mid and tweeter...your not going to get much for60..try e bay?

i run 5 1/4 in my 16v and 6 1/2 in the g60..if your handy with a bit mdf and fibre glass its easy to do and it sounds ALOT better

here... (Edit:still doesn't work, but they are mac components or something)
but you really need an amp to get any good out of components so I think you'd be better just getting a set of 5 1/4" for the door pods, rather than wasting money on crap components

hello mate, in my opinion i wouldnt get coaxials..

these are pretty good for the money, very smooth & warm sounding.

are you happy with the price? they are a bit over your budget by worth it in my opinion. Also later when u get an amp, u wont have to upgrade the speakers again.

please for christs sake dont buy any sony or kenwood comps, pioneers are ok but they are very bright sounding and will get on your t1ts after a while.

    hope this helps?

yeah it will be fine off your HU.

if your HU has a built in highpass filter (check ur manual out) make sure you activate it and set it to AT LEAST 80hz.
it will block out the low bass notes so they dont damage the mids when you get a bit too enthusiastic with the volume knob [:^:]

just use your common sense, dont blast ur system, makin em distort like hell and expect them to last for long..

dont use bassboost and loudness and all that crap either, imo that just ruins the sound, and will make your HU clip alot more easier as well.

the block thing in the pic is the xover, it should be in the tweeters speaker wire and it stops the tweeter playing bassnotes which will kill your tweet in no time.
