    Who's got what then?

I've not been a fan of consoles for years, but I think I want to buy one.

    Basically it needs:

    ISS / Pro Evolution Soccer
    Madden / NFL
    NHL
    THPS

Ideally, it'll be cheap and pirate games are a must. I can get hold of stuff dead easy, it's just what hardware I'd need which is the question.

True, slythe, but none of the afore-mentioned games are as playable on PC (for some reason they're just 'console games'), and I want to play downstairs on the big TV.

With the prices of GameCubes these days it'd be rude not to, surely?

if you want to play pro evo you're gonna need a ps2 i'm afraid

I work in the industry and always ALWAYS reccommend the xbox

But if it's pro evo u want - sony's outdated piece of hardware is the one

I'd say XBox definetly. Bought mine a year and a half ago, did a good bit of research and comparison against PS2 and GameCube but the XBox wins everytime. Graphics are better and games tend to have more levels for the xbox than the PS2.

Don't just buy a PS2 for ISS as the company that make ISS are developing a new football game exclusively for XBox. Couple that with XBox live, an 8Gb hard disk and the fact that you can mod them to store games straight onto the hard disk without never needing to buy a game again and you're laughing! Obviously I do not condone such behaviour as using pirate software... ;) Also Halo 2 (released September) will be the greatest game ever!

    Just my 2p.

Is there still life in the ol' X-Box then?

HDD with games loaded straight on sounds good to me.

Any idea when this football game's out for it? I'm pretty sure the others are available so that's cool.

No X-Box 2 on its way then anytime soon?

And I had a PS2 when they first came out, and sold it. Not a fan. :thumbd:

I think the new XBox game from the makers of ISS (is Konami the folk that make it?) will be out by the end of the year. But while you're waiting on it you can play Halo, the original splinter cell, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, Project Gotham Racing 2 etc etc. With games like those you won't be bothered about waiting until the end of the year! Plenty of life left in the 'box...PS2 is older than the XBox remember.

Pre-chipped Xbox's aren't too expensive.. about 150 with a couple of games. You can even get bigger HD's fitted so you have even more games on your Xbox

pardon me for being thick. but as I understood it an xbox is based around a pc anyway? if people can run linux on it, then surely you can play the games on a pc with similar results?

    Nah, Jeff...

I've got a decent PC and access to the latest / greatest games, which I take advantage of.

But with a console (even one 'closely linked' to a PC like the X-Box), it's portable, plug-and-play-with-your-mates type fun. No matter how good your PC is, it ain't the same.

How much for an X-Box anyway? I'll probably do all the modding etc. myself, given that you can get solderless chip kits now.

Re: Halo, SpliterCell, etc... I don't really do SP games. I get bored. This will be amplified by the control pad, too.

Just hope I have change after the exhaust, which I still haven't got. TFI Friday, aka payday.

A pre-chipped Xbox is around 150 with some games.
A non-prechipped either have a trawl around your high-street, kelkoo or your local paper for a 2nd hand one.

I've got a PS2 with about 250+ games and thinking about an Xbox too (coz I am greedy [:$] )
