It can be done afaik...... costs around a grand and, certainly in the short term, doesnt affect performance really.....
yes it will!! One thing my dad mentioned about LPG is that he has had 2 or 3 cars in with LPG conversions which have had damaged valves. I think its to do with the difference in temperature the the LPG burns at..... 2 were Focus' and one was an Astra.....
Did he get them converted or did he buy them already done? Would guess that there would be some form of warranty form the place that carrys out the conversion?
they had already been converted and done a fair few miles on them since the conversion afaik..... i will ask him more about it for you when i speak to him next
i was under the impression that fuel consumption on LPG was about half of diesel, maybe wrong! Also, consider the fact there is little tax on LPG, i'd imagine the government to whack a huge increase on the tax if many people convert
Try this site http://www.greenfuel.org.uk/ I did a quick quote and on a A6 2.8doing 12k a year the conversion is approx. 2300 but you can save over 1K per annumin running costs so you pay for it after 2 years. Best thing to do is buy a car which is already converted. They will not be 2k more than a standard model.
Not that bad on a Mk2! a friend of mine was considering having his car converted, but discovered that there's some agreement which runs out soon which is what keeps the cost of LPG low, so the government could soon stick a load of tax on lpg. they might not, but if it's another way to make money.... worth looking into anyhoo.
Yep i seem to remember a thread a while ago on this same topic and someone had said this was happening so i would suggest looking into that before you do anything because you will loose out big time if tax is whacked on
Hi, Me dad had a v8 discovery that he put gas on. It did loose some performance but not a great deal. He also blew a hole in the exhaust manifold that was beleved to be due to lpg.
