6.3 Litres according to haynes... it doesn't list different capacities by model, which was a bit of a surprise, so believe it if you like. That'll include the heater as well, so if you drain and flush from a rad hose you'll probably find the amount you need is somewhere nearer Trev's figure.
Duh. When I read the question, for some reason I was thinking about oil capacity. Please ignore anything I say from now on.
Either thats wrong or their must be an awful lot in the heater matrix and pipework. I just drained (bar the heater it seems) and flushed my system minus the thermostat, some what suprised to see it full with 3 litres of antifreeze Edited by: Finite
i'm just about to do this, did we ever find out the amount, ie, what VW quoted in their manuals?? (misplaced my manual )
also, i dont know what coolant is currently in my '91 GTi 8v, so what coolant should i use once drained to fill back up?? G12 or G12+
if its empty and flushed use whatever you like, all much of a muchness. with vw coolants G11(blue) and G12(red) dont mix, but g12+(purple) mix with either. i just buy whatever gsf or avs sell on their site when im buying bits
