Coolant temp. sensor (vr6)

    What can you tell me about this??? I read on vortex that if its faulty your car will run very rich all the time.

    Anyone clued up on these (vr6)

    When mine was running sluggish i changed this,only a tenner from VW.It wasnt that that was causing it but its worth trying.

    If its f**ked the ECU can think the engine is -43 degress and run very rich mini backfires off throttle etc and fuel will come out the exhaust, you can clean polish the senor to get a better reading but this assumes the sendor worked in the first place.

    Have you got access to a 1551 or vag.com to check the temp ?
