Whats everyones opinions on these? Thinking of upgrading to the 2.0 16v mk3 golf but how do these compare to the corado 2.0 16v. Are they the same engine/bhp etc?

Not the same engine as the mk3. Its a 9A lump, I think it uses a different injection system (motronic or something like that), they are 140hp as standard, and run tamer cams than the 1.8 KR lumps found in mk2 16v's.

weigh more than mkIII as well, but handle better standard for standard.

Corrado 2L 16v=136BHP...it has a very restrictive inlet cam meaning it produces slightly less peak power than a 1.8 16v (139BHP)

Changing the inlet cam to a KR type (1800 16v) & proper setup should poke peak power up to 155-160BHP on an otherwise standard engine..

The ABF in the Mk3 is probably the better engine and can easliy see 175bhp with a few tweaks. You are probably looking at buying a 2l at the right time because the 16v Corrados seem cheap at the moment. As said a standard Corrado is far better then a Mk3 but just try both and see.
