Could please someone tell me if mk3 agg 288mm hubs and brakes front fit on a L reg corrado 16v??? Any comments or ideas more than welcome.
The hubs will not fit your car correctly without changing wishbones, shafts, hubs, brakes, steering arms and anti-rollbar. It will then be 5 stud on the front so you will need to change the rear discs too and find a new set of wheels.
I have had a few lagers so may have missed something! Come to think of it....I hope an L reg Corrado is not 5 stud to start with or somebody has converted it already, and I have made a howling error! If your Corrado is 5 stud then the hubs off an AGG engined mk3 with 288mm brakes will fit. What are you doing in the technical section again Bristol anyway?
Thanks chaps for the mostly useful information looks like I will have to change the front wheel bearing after all then...
Sorry about wondering off piste a little Jaundice. If your car has 4 stud hubs on it the mk3 AGG ones are of no use to you. So many people modify their cars that it can be hard to make an informed answer sometimes, we have no way of knowing what is on your car other than as originally equipped which is sometimes not always the case.
Ive got a g reg (89) corrado which im going 4 to 5 stud and 288mm brake set up. Bits im using...... front 288mm disc calipers carriers pads Rear Vr6 disc Then im using 4 stud hub carrier and bearing and pressing in mk3 golf 5 stud hub and using mk 3 golf cv joint. Keeping the 4 stud hub carrier, means you dont need to change balljionts wishbones etc. Hope this helps.
For all that work and parts why not just put the 5 stud wishbones and hubs on too. Then you get the benefit of better suspension geometry.
No need to apologise, thats why I love this forum Also I should have explained myself a bit better, I know there are loads of people who widetrack there MK2's, and swap bits around so I should have been a bit more specific. A friend of mine has a corrado 16v that needs a wheel bearing, and I have my old MK3's hubs, carriers and brakes laying around, if they fitted I was just going to swap the whole assembly over because its easier than pressing bearings out and in without a press, I completely forgot that corrado's are 4 stud tbh
Cos thats more stuff to buy, plus in the really world i doubt you 'd notice the difference in geometery. The only thing im buying other than brakes (which id be buying anyway) is hubs and cv joint.
If you are buying everything new, but you will pickup the setup for less than 100 quid from a mk3 GTI that is a breaker. Watch disc offset though. And price in different flexis too, as the 288mm calipers use a banjo fitting. You would notice the handling difference if fitting the whole setup.
