    Hiya,

Does anyone know the actual performance figures for a 16v and a G60 'raddo??

Need to settle a wee argument..

0-60 and top whack woulde be nice, with a reliable source other than 'your mate down the pub'.

    Ta

    Any numbers??

    Significantly quicker or subtle.

And yes, I'm aware some smart @rse is about to tell me the VR kicks both their backsides comprehensively...

There isn't a great deal between the official 0-60 times, as the G60 won't reach 60 in second gear, whereas I believe the 16v does. There is no doubt that the G60 is much quicker though.

My 16v wont reach 60 in second. Dont have any figures but I sold my G60 to my brother and bought an 8v GTI. I drove the G60 about 2 months later and it felt really quick. I sold the 8v gti and bought 16v and to be honest it doesnt feel/appear any quicker than my old GTI. G60 had 100k miles with no charger rebuild as well.

The VR kicks both their backsides comprehensively...

I wouldn't have thought there would be a huge difference.

Both will hit 60mph from stand still in approx. 8 secs.
    Top Speed for 16V is 130mph & g60 will do 136mph.
The mid-range grunt will be better in the G60.

According to that the 16v is faster to 60. G60 is so much better though. Come out a corner and plant the foot without changing gear and it just pulls and pulls. This is my first 16v and so far I am not a fan of the engine.

My standard 1.8 valver did 8.2secs to 60 and qtr mile at 17.2 secs not bad for a heavy rrado top speed was 135ish mph. Since tuned 9a went in with only 3k miles it did 7.3 secs to 60mph and 16secs qtr mile. And as later found out i had a blocked fuel pipe! It would of done even better. Cant see g60 matching that. as for quote above 30secs to 100mph!!! Boll**ks, 1.6driver golf will do that(probably) : ))

A modified G60 will hand a VR it's arse on a plate, so I think it would show your valver a thing or two. Those are impresive times though mate.

Not asying anything bad against a VR mate, just that the G60 can be quicker with little money spent on it. Still prefer my VR though. My mates G60 is very nice, but I prefer the later style dash, leather, and of course the noise.

I think the point was that the 16v in this case wasnt standard, so its unfair to compare it to a standard g60, the same way its unfair to compare it to a vr6 ;)

The same way although my old modded g60 was about the same as my standard VR, it was an unfair comparison until the VR is modded (otherwise why did I buy a vr6 when I can vouch for the fact a modded g60 keeps up with one?), at which point the VR will blow it away!
