Hi guys, I've got a corrado vr6 1994 bottom end to fit to my golf vr6 1996. Does anybody know what code gearbox I need? Heard it could be an 02a but also a chn? Any help would be appriciated guys.
02a is just the type of box, i.e. cable shift. it has to be a 6 pot version of the 02a though, as the bellhousing is different. your old gearbox will be fine
I don't have one mate! I'm going from auto to manual so I gotta buy one. Do you know if all the gearing is the same through the vr6 gearboxes? Long or short etc?
Corrado VR6 is CHN code. There's a debate aout whether they have the same ratios and final drive as the golf or not, which I am going to settle when I pull apart this gearbox.
there are 2 box codes for the rado, 1 is the same ratios as MK3, the other is a little different: golf - CCM: 1 33/10 2 35/18 3 34/26 4 30/29 5 31/37 pinion gear set 61/18 rado - AGK: 1 34/9 2 early 40/19, late 36/17 3 35/24 4 30/29 5 31/37 pinion gear set 61/18 CHN: 1 33/10 2 35/18 3 34/26 4 30/29 5 31/37 pinion gear set 61/18
Nice one john, do you know from experience the difference between AGK and CHN boxes in terms of performance? Ie which box has better acceleration/ top end etc?
Cheers fellas nice one, got my eye on a box so hopefully should have it by next week! Another question if anyone knows, has anyone on here fitted a g60 final drive? Or does anyone know what difference it makes?
