That's awesome neat work. Reminds me of an old project I did kind of like that, using almost the same display controller (an Epson S1Dsomething). I did this about a decade ago (probably) and I actually don't think my eyes would allow me to solder Kapton wire directly to fine-pitch QFP package pins anymore; I'd just go cross-eyed and need a cup of tea.
