I can`t believe the car was really looking that bad...seems like a marketing set up to me...[:|] ...and I`m guessing you`ve already realised you mixed up driver`s and passenger side when describing the interior. ;)

    A science? [:s]

Surely you can throw a bucket of water over a car and then polish it!

I've been using a PC for about a year now and some of the cars I have done have come up amazingly well - I wouldn't class myself as an expert on detailing though some results of previous cars I have done:

I never said I could do it. I can't. Never claimed to.
I never commented on how easy it is / isn't either.
I've not commented on JWB's work either. Although the degree of attention above is no different from one of our regular valet's.

What I DID advocate, in a tongue in cheek manner too, was the common held view that 'detailing' is little more than a fancy type of washing/polishing/cleaning/repairing.

For most, it is NOT a distinct, discrete alternative, it is simply a 'degree' of attention given to making good a car.

Don't take my word for it either. Do a poll, see what most think.

I can appreciate how good a car can be made after some 'detailing' but I have to ask myself every time, what is the point in our climate? If you lived in LA where it only rains a few times a year if you're lucky, then yeah fine. Go do some detailing. If you live in the UK & Ireland, just drive it. Then when it's dirty, wash it.

Maybe 2-4 times a year when you're going to a show or a meet give it a polish and seal the paint but why spend hundreds of pounds and hundreds of hours a year 'detailing' your car only to have a pigeon **** on it 5 minutes later.

Here's the results the last time I did some 'detailing', roughly this time last year.

Once a year is plenty for me :p
