So what do you reckon, over-priced or fair? Limiteds go for 12k+ and there was 71 of them. Only 20 of these and a lot more special I think.

    Bargain.

    it gone!!!

I know where there are two more dialynx conversions, the problem with them is there illegal unless they have been to VOSA for approval.

Why havent dialynx done more conversions? the rumour is the DOT have had a word...

I dont see as its any different to making a kit car and those are perfectly legal

    Seriously?
SVA approval is granted to all sorts of tut, including bizarre vehicles such as the Chaos Crew's double-headed Black Cab

and god-knows how many stretch Limos.

Tbh the windscreen-rake giveaway on most Dialynx convs is too huge to ignore for me, and the second you spot it's a fake it seems rather less special.

they dont come VOSA approved and Im not aware of any being approved, when we were at VOSA for the rally car, We spoke to the inspector Who basically said, We arent saying that they cant have approval but until the car passes an inspection it would be considered the same as a kit car without SVA. It Must have an SVA to be legal for road use.

Remember its still a cut and shut.

the website still says that they have done 16 of them, so i believe its slightly OOD,

Also a friend of mine is building a car and has had a lot of parts from Dialynx, and he commented that they hadn't done one for a couple of years.

The 1st one the did was a normal 2wd coupe as a trial, its still around somewhere. They are pretty special things and altho some dont like them the ones im familar with are pretty good altho the standard of some of the work leaves something to be desired in certain areas.

Its a modified version of a car that is already licenced - so it doesn't need an SVA surely - its not really any different to many mods that are made to cars like changing floorpans, putting multi-link suspension on etc etc etc. I think 'cut and shut' is totally underestimating the quality of the work that goes into these cars - you only have to look at the number seriously competing at a high level to know they are put togther very well

True, but they are (quite literally) a car that has been cut in half, material removed, and then welded back together. A rather definitive 'cut & shut', actually.
That's why it needs SVA approval, just like a stretch limo.

the guy said that a structural inspection would be required, as said before, he didnt rule it out when we expalain what the car was, just that it would have to be inspected to be fully legal, altho if you dont tel mr MOT man that its not a std Audi the there arent many that will spot it. and im sure thats how they get away with it, in fact i know two of the 20 owners well and there cars arent SVA approved.

We are going to see if we can get the shell approved before we do too much work to it.

the problems start when you crash it, remember that dick that killed his family in his landrover.
