I just put my 8v back in after the 16v blew up and the fuel pump is not priming off the key. When I bridge it with a wire then it runs, but won't prime or run off the ignition. I've double checked all the connections, the two red/black for the coil are on the -ve and the two black are on the +ve, the hall sender wires are ok, the wires to the pumps are clearly ok or they would run when the relay is bridged.

Tried a diffrent relay, no luck. Any ideas anyone?

Got no spark either, which only means one thing.

    Hall sender is knackered.

    Great.

Could some one confirm this for me? I think its a faulty hall sender causing the problem as everything else is connected and not broken.

    Rubjonny, am I right?

hall sender would stop it sparking and pump running, but it wouldnt stop it priming.

i think you have a wiring fault to ecu so its not powering up, 1st check is ecu relay. have a look in the scuttle as well there is a connector which goes between the ecu loom and car loom where all ecu power etc goes. is car pre or post 90?

I checked the wiring in the scuttle its all connected. Its pre90. I'll check the ecu relay when I get home. Which one is it? And which number?

its in slot 1 and should be a 53 relay. 16v doesnt have one so this could be why :)

Nope, id left it in there. I'll try a diffrent relay if it stops raining any time today, which i doubt it will.

have another look at the 2 2pin plugs in the scuttle as well, they arnt sealed so suffer from corrosuion. you could also check for ign live to the black/yellow wire while you're under there. have a look at ecu pins for corrosion as well, this is what made my 16v die one day without warning

oh when you swapped the loom back did you remember the 2 pin plug that fits into socket R? without that the ecu relay wont get power. and check fuse #17 :)

try it again, the ecu wont have been getting power which is why both fuel pump wasnt priming and there was no spark ;)

The green wire for the hall sensor in the dizzy was snapped so wouldn't work anyway :)

I got the other dizzy last night and have just put it in. Now what's happening is when I turn the ignition on I can hear a spark noise but when I turn the engine over there is nothing coming out of the kinglead. I checked the wires in the dizzy, they are all good, and then tried swapping the wires to the coil round (red/black on +ve and black on -ve) and now I get a very weak spark from the king lead and can still hear a spark noise when turning the ignition on. What is causing this to happen?
