do modern sat-nav chargers not fit mk2 cig lighter holes then?

try'd plugging in my tom-tom the other day into the mk2 cig lighter hole,and it does'nt seem to fit!
was it just me being a pleb,or don't they fit at all!??

 

My mums fitted mine. A cig lighter is a cig lighter.

 

Not entirely true.

I have one of those VW plug in torches and it doesn't fit my Audi.

I think VW ones are slightly larger diameter than 'normal' ones.

gota push and turn on mine, same in all my old cars, seems they only connect in a certain place.

 

i have to twist mine in my vectra....

seems a cig lighter isn't just a cig lighter!!

I nearly blinded myself when driving as i was playing with mine. Bloody bright they are!

 

There are two different sizes one is 22mm and the other is 21mm (I think) I think jap crap and stuff usually has the smaller size, but, The chargers for phones and navs are usually designed to fit both this is why they have springy sides.

 

same here, my corrado one is rubbish, I have to hold the charger in or it falls out. plus it's in such a stupid place anything that's plugged into it gets punched when you go for 5th.

 

if you look into the socket...theres 2 erm prongs that you can bend to make it a snug fit

 

He right ya know, just use somthing none conductive or power it down first, If its on the ignition turn it off or if its live all the time pull the fuse. I always forget.

 

i bought a little 4 socket adaptor from ebay, chopped the plug off and hardwired it to th back of the cig lighter in the console then screwed it in the top of the glovebox. now all my phone and sat nav chargers plug in securely and no trailing leads in the way of 5th gear

 

my Garmin charger fits the mk2 cig lighter very well
just aswell really as I don't like tomtom

 

Thats exactly what i'm doing this weekend, got a multi-adaptor that has a USB port too for my sound system (ipod speaker )

 

this has always anoyed me nothing ive ever had has ever stayed plugged into my mk2 or my mk3 useless.
