Hi After some advice, my girlfriend and I are looking at getting a puppy. She wants a westie and i'm not fussed so Westie it is! My question is: We're both out of the house for about 9 hours a day, do any of you own dogs that are happy to stay in for 9 hours on their own? Or do you come home to loads of mess! Any advice appreciated Ad
our dog willl go for nine hours but we have a petpals dog walker to come and walk her at dinner time. Not sure how a little yappy dog will cope tho
9 hours is a bit too long for a PUPPY. But when there adult should be ok but its not very nice to them! And you cant leave a puppy for an hour without it doing something!
Im not sure about Westies, but I had a German Sheppard once, and when she was a pup, I went out to work at 8 in the morning and by the time I got home at lunchtime, she chewed through the partition wall between the kitchen and the lounge
Once house trained, they should be ok, but they will need plenty of toys. Make sure you dont overfuss a dog when you first get it, they get used to this then when you leave them on their own they yelp all f**kin day (selfish fatherless child neighbours). Best thing you can do when you get a new puppy, is lock it in a room for a few days, visiting it regularly, and give them somewhere to hide (large box with an opening on). This gives them some security.
i had a month off when we first had mine so we didnt have to lock it up lol, besides i darent, its harder than me lol
go to dog home and buy a dog and save one from being put down. a pup being aline for nine hours in unfair and cruel if you ask me.
that's just not right. there's no way a dog, especially a puppy should be left in a house for 9 hours on it's own every day. it's cruel. not only will you come back to a whole load of shite and pee everywhere, but you're sofa, curtains, carpet, wallpaper will be chewed to pieces. frankly, if you leave a dog in all day then you deserve to come back to that. it's cruelty to animals. pure n simple.
We got a kitten yesterday, and when we went out this morning he was meowing, and was still at it when we got back an hour later. As soon as we showed up he was fine!
