My first dog - Charlie, a golden retriever (film, so scanned).

I like taking animal and people photos. (But a lot of my people photos are children, so cannot display them.)

Is she a boxer with a tail? Or a mastiff?

And did you get your shoe back in one piece?

    Boxer of course!

She has a tail yes, it's now illegal to lop them off.

Such a strong tail though, it hurts when she wags her tail into you (if that makes sense!)

The shoe came back in one - somewhat slobbery - piece!

lol - if you want slobber, you should really try a bull mastiff!

Glad your dog still has her tail. It's been illegal for some while now to dock tails unnecessarily, but if you look around, see how many dogs have been docked!

Totally unnecessary in 99% of cases, and breeders and vets who do it should be ashamed of themselves. Maybe they should have an appendage docked, so they know what it feels like!!! </rant over>

It can be useful on some dogs, working spaniels can shred their tails on thorns, etc.

That's the arguement breeders always give - and may be true to some extent.

But how many spaniels are actually working dogs in places where they could catch their tails on thorns.

The vast majority are pet dogs (I have one and he's never injured his tail) and a lot of the working ones are now sniffer dogs for the police and Customs.

Still disagree that unless it is absolutely necessary for health reasons, it should not be done for cosmetic or fashion reasons.
