Are there 2 different types of clips for mounting pre 90 spec and 90 spec door trim?

Now i am even more confused. I bought some door trim clips from veedubmachine.co.uk and they don't fit as the part that goes in the rubber grommet in the door is too thin and does not clip in. No surprise that veedubmachine are ignoring my emails after selling me the wrong clips.

one on the right is deffo wrong for both pre/post-90 MK2 regardless. doesnt look like a mk3 one even to me? unless the rubber part has been changed in design recently which is possible, if so they really should have supplied you with the new design rubber grommets as well as the clips.

theres no mention of this in etka though, generally if the clip requires a redesigned part to fit it would tell you. I can see the clip used to be a different part number though...

    191 853 585 A - clip - 0.27+VAT
    1H0 853 586 - grommet - 0.41+VAT

Yes, new clips are available from VW as i just got some today after wasting my money with veedubmachine.
The reason i didn't go to VW first was that i would need 2 trips, one to order and pay and then another to collect. Never again with veedubmachine.
