I am trying to network across to a router box, but am having no luck.

    I am using Dos command:

    C:\>explorer \\192.168.1.254

    (connected via ethernet)

This is supposed to do it, but it pulls up an Explorer window which is effectively:

    C:\Users\<My PC name>\Documents

    aka My Documents.

The network connection exists through the ethernet so it is ok. Any ideas?

Get into a BT Broadband box to convert to generic ISP use.

You want Internet Explorer, not Windows Explorer, which is what you've typed.
Just open IE, and type 192.168.1.254 in the address bar.

    try telnet?

Most routers now have a webhost that will give you a web interface rather than doing it old school, though if you're trying to jailbreak a BT router then you might need to lift the bonnet, hence telnet.

I'm guessing you've researched to see how/if it possible.
