    239mm vented disc's. You're looking at about 13 each
You also need gti pads. About 10
    (Prices from GSF catalogue)
The caliper is the same size but since the gti disc is wider the pads are thinner.

P.S. do it. It makes a great difference.
If you can, get fast road pads as well.

I told insurance and didn't make any difference.
It may change with different insurer's though so worth checking.

does that mean that they will wear out quicker if the pads are thinner? How much difference is there, i dont get fade they just dont feel very good.

I've been using pagid fast road pads for about 4 months now with plenty of material left on them.
    (Must brake harder [8-}])

I don't know difference between standard driver and standard gti pads as I went for pagid but that was a big improvement.

Yes the pad material is thinner because the disc is wider.
    Shouldn't be too difficult.
Although I did take the lazy option of getting someone to fit them for me.

Yes done this to both my drivers, and told many people to do it.

Just get on with it and buy the parts!!

Dont bother telling your insurance company as its a direct upgrade.

Yeah.. go for the Pagid Fast road pads, they are really good. I've just put zimmerman disks and pagid FR 239 setup on mine and it stops really well. Only thing is, the FR pads need a bit of heat before they start to work at their best.

I did this mod at the weekend. Very easy though I know from experience getting the caliper bolts out can be a struggle.;)

A tip is to clean out the allen socket before trying to fit the allen key and use a socket driven allen key rather than a bent bit of metal allen key.

I picked up discs for 10 quid off a gti in the scrapper, practically brand new and bought pagid pads for 15 from gsf. Everthing seems to work so far!!

Whilst you're there I'd think about replacing the rubber and pvc sleeving around the caliper sliders, costs between 5 and 10 from VAG. if the slider bolts are seized the chances are that you'll have to cut the rubber sleeve off and hammer a 13mm socket onto the problem bolt.

check that your calipers say VW II on them as I have heard that some calipers don't take the vented discs

Best way to get seized caliper bolts out are to first hammer a torx bit into the head of the allen bolt, then get some vice grips and clamp them as tightly as possible around the head of the bolt, then try to loosen the bolt by turning the vice grips and the torx bit at the same time... works every time for me :)

Did it on mine too, even though it's a MK3 Vento VW deemed it realistic to put solids on the front!

I've got ATE vented with mintex pads, must get rid of the mintex pads. [xx(] Still WAY better than my solid disks [:^:]

The caliper bolts are allen head mate.... if they are seized then they will just round off though, so as I said, hammering a torx bit in there is the only option ;)

I used an allen key with mine but I did give it some, looking back I should've used an allen/socket thingy :)
