Drivers jacking dimple - underseal come off!

    looks like its jacked up on the plastic sills instead of on the sill itself, scirocco? eek!

    So where is the correct place? I always use the dimples with out a problem but always (well mostly) use about 20mm of rubber on the jack plate.

    I am assuming the wishbone/subframe mount?

    i thought perhaps the car moved to the side and the jack flipped round, either way its not good :lol:

    Could catch on, atleast when you get that flat in the poring rain at night on the way back from the weekly shop you only have to get the tyre out, the jack will already be ready :lol: :lol:

    Happened because I used standard vw jack for both sides.
    Had first side up on axle stand, started jacking other side and the jack and stand both tipped slowly over.
    You can see the jack embedded into the plastic sill cover after it's fallen over.
    Happened at same kinda speed as that caterham falling over the top gear lot made.

    You try jacking on the dimple on a mk3 and it gets squashed.
    The sills on a mk3 are awful, theres no other place to place axel stands and jack up at the same time.

    Heres a picture direct from the VAG WinELSA system, seems to confirm that on a MK2 at least, the the dimple IS for jacking:
