    how thick is 5amp wire?

  3. Depends on what the coating is, the voltage drop you want, the length of the wire, whether it is exposed to the air (or inside a bundle), how many conductors, stranded or solid...

No matter how thick the wire is, you always have some resistance. So when you put current down the wire you always get a voltage drop - the more current the more voltage drop. The longer the wire the more the voltage drop. The thicker the wire, the lower the resistance and hence the lower the voltage drop.

So how much voltage drop can you tolerate, and how long is the wire?

the wire is about 3 meters long. its stranded, made of copper and it is insulated. its bout 2mm wide. [:$]

its ok now, i was making a loom for my foglights. i have and it doesn't get warm so i would presume it will be ok.

  6. It sounds a bit thin.

A small volatge drop won't make your wire warm, but it will make the foglights less bright...
