I was just about to order some skf front wheel bearings and noticed it had its dimensions, so thought I would check 1st. These were 66mm.
I got the vernier caliper out and mine are 64mm, does this sound right and if so, what part number should mine be?
    Hmmmm

Sorry, that link was meant to take you to the bearing list, not the home page.

Double check as I'm just repeating them, but looks like -

    VKBA593 is 64mm
    VKBA906 is 66mm
    VKBA1358 is 72mm

According to them 64mm was only up to the end of 1984 whereas 66mm also covered '84 but additionally ran to the end of '87.

    72mm was '88 onwards.

Measure twice... I just used a steel rule instead and get 66mm
Putting the bloody useless vernier tool and that shows 64 when on 66mm of the steel rule !!
So I'm guessing the cheap vernier tool is letting me down

Received some skf 66mm today. New vs old picture. Question is, the old has some sort of rubber seal and the new does not. Is this a separate part I need to order or are these a better sealed bearing? Hmmmm
    Just having a bad day

Looks good. I had hoped mine looked like that, especially as skf make the genuine items I believe. Still waiting to get my parts back from blasting

Looks like you haven't read the vernier scale part of the caliper in your pic?.

The 0 on the vernier scale (little bit on bottom) should be on on near the 0 graduation at 66mm.

Just got them out to have a look at. You are indeed right, so thanks for that. I perhaps should get some glasses..... The 0 mark is about 2mm to the right and I was taking zero being the raised end section of the sliding scale

No worries, if you've never been taught to read the Vernier scale it's easily done!.
