Hi all im new on the scene and am looking forward for help and helping others. i recently purchased a golf DTI 1.9 ENGINE.....CODE:ATD ...red DI I purchased this car for 170 pounds and it has no marks or rust, interior is mint BUT the engine is fudged the garage said it has a hole in the block!!! the previous person put unleaded in and ran it, since then they drained the petrol and changed the fuel filter and put the right juice in to get this running all i saw was a big cloud of smoke over the road... i have experiences with garages and sorry to say but i dont trust them to much and would rather fix and ask people that know these cars a lot more than me. what would be the best way to check of a hole inside the block maybe a compression test? or just take the head off and inspect? i have been offerd a avf engine from a passat with the red DI, would this be a straight swap with the mounts and externals? would i need the ECU for the avf engine? sorry for all the questions.
