Ive got an 87 mk2 gti with the K-Jet engine. When first started up the car revs itself and then usually settles a couple of notches under 1 on the rev counter. The car has what i can only describe as a 'heartbeat' when stood still running, or in traffic. It Stinks of petrol and Fuel economy isnt great, whats up with it? Is this normal? In a queque of slow movig traffic moving slowly in first is hard because it jerks when i want to stop rolling..when i press the clutch down. Dont know if this is related!
