   I am going to remove my transmission on my 1997 VW Golf GTI 2.0 MK3. I want a support bar that is sturdy but not REAL pricey. Anybody out there bought one that is a great buy, won't rust and is able to support both the engine and transmission?

   a large plank of wood and some seatbelts will do the job if you're on a budget, or get another jack use the 2nd one under the engine to hold it up while you're doing the gearbox swap
