For some reason G40's are cheap to insure.

    I change from a MK1 Golf 1.5 auto A reg value 150 to a J reg G40 Polo value 2000 and they gave me a refund :p

Did you need an engineers report for the engine conversion?

nope, they didnt ask for one.

they dont do agreed valuation but they were telling me about a scheme they do instead...

...take the book value of your car plus the modifications you have done to it, replacement cost.

this in theory is better than agreed val. because we all spend a darn sight more on our cars than the val. would be.

they said (understandably) to keep as many receipts as possible, to get the value back should the need arise.

    good work.
it seems to me insurance people just make it up on the spot.
i got my renewal 2 weeks ago, cis,tpo,1600!
    testicles to that i thought.
i rang up and said it was too expensive, they only put down 1 years no claims bonus cos of a claim pending which i had sorted the week before, bit of argument and 2nd year was put back on and it goes down to 1200.
still not happy cos i dont want to pay that fully comp!!
rang norwich union, got an indian lass, asked if i could drive other cars third party- she didnt have a clue what i was on about but carried on anyway-FC- 900-result, but i wanted lower [:$]
rang up a few more places- local place, could drive other cars and was 800 tpft. result again!! [:D]
went to ring up today and confirm it and get it done, brought the quote back up, but it was based on me getting a job which i unfortunately didnt get, and unemployment slapped 400 quid on the quote.
    1200 [:s]
    started panicking this time.
got ma yellow pages- hill house hammond didnt pick up, got to NUD again in the book and thought 900 is only 100 quid more- will be cheaper tpft, ill ask someone else if i can drive other cars tpo.
first thing i did- bloke told me i could- was on!
tpft- 450 drive other cars inc breakdown cover and courtesy car [:D]
told ya- they make it up as the go along!!!
