exhaust manifold fasket

    whats it like to do on a 1.8 single point injection mk3 golf i no u hav to take all the inlet manifold off just thinkin off doin it myself if it's not too tricky ???

    bare in mind i'm no mechanic but i can undo bolts and stuff ;)

    Which gasket? the one at the head, or the one between the manifold and downpipe.

    Well I've done loads on older 8vs and I personally used to take off the inlet, just so I could see what I was doing better, but I don't think you have to. If you can get to all the bolts okay with the inlet on, then cool.

    Its a really easy job.

    As long as you have hands and fingers the size of a 4 year old and don't mind blood oosing from your knuckles for the next 3 months.

    I would take the inlet manifold off anyway - only a few quid for another gasket and its much easier to get at the upper exhaust nuts.
