I have been asked by Revo to use my car (2015 POLO GTI DSG) for development and in return receive free stage one remapping on the vehicle. Has anybody used Revo or had past experience with them? My only concern is that mine is a DSG model meaning it has less torque than the manual purely because of the gearbox. I don't want to run it dangerously close to the limit and wondered if anybody could help please? Thanks in advance.
I had Revo on my Mk4 Golf, and it was great. By the time I got it though, it was a mature product. If they're going to use the car as a development mule, I'd want to make sure up front that any damage is covered by them.
I agree with sparrow on warranty. From the cars I have had some experienced with, Revo remaps are not bad for a generic product and do give an increase in performance over standard.
I have Revo on my DSG Edition 30 and have experienced no problems currently at stage 2+ linear throttle with DSG mapped as well, done trackdays and sprints and nothing to complain about, also had stage 1 Revo on my manual 2002 S3 and did trackdays and sprints also with no issues. I'd ask for the sps as well as the map to sweeten the deal.
SPS is the controller that you can use to adjust the amount of boost, and which map is being used. IIRC, you can have a valet map (idle speed only), standard map (OEM), and Revo map. You could then also adjust the amount of boost being used up to a maximum for the map.
UPDATE - Revo are unable to map the car at this current time due to how new the ECU is. This will be worked on over the coming weeks/months and will be installed onto my car free of charge along with a custom air intake. Service was second to none. The car was returned to me with a full tank of V Power and obviously the intake and remap free of charge as a good will gesture. Highly recommended guys!
