On my 89 Mk2 i have the standard steelies. What other options came off the production line at that time or was there not any?

was there a difference in the 16V and 8 V models?

I believe that the 3 door 8v had alloys as an option before 1990 and came with steelies as standard before this. 1990 8v was specced more like the 16v, electric windows, big bumbers etc...

5 doors always had the alloys as standard, early ones P slots or teardrops (silverstone), later ones RA's (post89/90)

16v had alloys as standard from the beginning, bottletops (montreal) from intro to 89/90 then RA's as standard.

All the wheels listed above were options at the dealership so I think could be considered 'original'.

I think this is about right, I'm always prepared to stand corrected if anyone has more info...

As far as I know, everything was always an option. If you bought an Edition 1 you still had to order electric windows and stuff apparently.

Yeah I love those wheels as well Lee. Been trying to find some 6 x 15 wheels or even the missing VW pt. no. TheGave had a set, but the car was stolen! Search for R8 threads.

The car: I am at present trying to find out all I can about the 1.8 8V Junior Rally cars. I have a thread running now. NWR has posted a lot of stuff.

PS If you beat me to a set, I shall beat you to a plup![:x] And, don't think you can hide from me. I have the resourses!;)

Do you just constantly spout off crap? You should work for a newspaper or something.

I sold all of my Golf accessory brochures on e-bay. Even the one with the 6 x 15 R8s in it.

This is all I have left. 000 VAG 025 But not dated!

What interests me is that VW dropped the original design R8s, used in competition, and replaced them with these 'show & shine' ones. They have inset spokes and polished rims. Still available then in 6 x 14, 601 VAG 033, as shown, and also 7 x 15.

What I also find interesting, from what I've read on previous posts in this thread, is that the Corrado's wheels, (not sure of the name, are they Sebrings?), are not listed as accessories in the brochure. They were of course used in competition on the Mk2 16v Grp A rally cars.
