If you can cast your mind back...

What increase in size/conversion did you have and when telling your insurance, how much more cash did they rape you for?

    Any recommendations for ins co's.?
Obviously ones that offer specialist insurance.

when i first asked about converting my driver to a valver, hic wanted an extra 400!! from 600 to 1k !! bearing in mind i was 24 at the time, with agreed value on the car, im hopeing its gonna be a bit less now though, being 25.

    hope that helps.

btw only tell them about things they can see, i cant imagine them stripping your engine to see if your head has been polished or lightend fly wheel ;)

    lol!

Its funny, somtimes, peoples policy's have only gone up by 40 from a GTi - VR6 mk2...
then i hear stories like yours..

I had a few quotes for mine going from a 1400 mk3 to a 2.8 mk3, its now going to be a 2.9... but quotes for the 2.8 were under 2k which im happy to pay, im sure the 2.9 wont be much more... im planning on hangin it out till i turn 20 in hope it may have some effect..
Sayin that, its going to stay on my mums policy, so we'll see!

But people, please share your experiences..
    thanks

I'm paying 1000 on my Mk1 1.8 8v with HIC, and they want an extra 300 with the 2.0 16v upgrade.

Not bad considering I'm 20 and live in West London.

And this is on my name!

My mate has a 1400 Mk3, done loads to it, nothing left to do really. (smoothed, lowered, 17's etc) All declared.

    Got a quote on a bog standard Mk3 Gti - 2000

Got a quote to drop the engine into his 1400 and swap the rear brakes over - 1400

    Good - but a bit wierd - he's 18 as well

I think mine went up 30 from a 1.6driver to a 2.8 VR at 21, and even then that was probably an admin fee!!

I am not sure, i left it to Designa Dubs to sort out. I have kept the mk3 ecu as my car was originally an 8v.
