Fastener strength, sizes & guide torques

    What sort of tests did you perform? I'm presuming tightening to set torque then measuring preload, using a DTI's, or a proper load cell thingy?

    Load Cells.

    Bolt loadings and lubes were big for us on high integrity machines.

    We used to experiment with load indicating bolts a lot.

    We made a lot of use of both Rota-Bolts and Hydraulic pre-tensioning.

    Molyslip is one possibility. But solid Moly Lubes, IIRC, were much more repetative. I am sure Molykote will send you a Manual for free? I still have my copy here and can quote a ref. no. if required.:thumbup:
