Fault code readers

    vag-com might be easier and better as this will allow you to log data and measure in real time.

    my mate bought one bud, and it did not work at all, there are a 100% con mate, steer clear of them sh*ters

    I've not used any vag specific ones but I got a cheap universal one of ebay and thats worked fine for reading codes and resetting them on my dads renault.

    Sykes would be a wise purchase for weekend tinkerers.

    Or a cheap P2 IBM laptop and VAG-Com. (depending on budget 100 all in)

    i've got a cheap laptop for megasquirt and have the free version of vagcom on it but it doesn't tell you all the fault codes or read all of the control modules and won't do the latest canbus cars.
    It looks like i'll be buying a full version of vagcom rather than one of these readers.
