Ok guys... I've read alot about VAG.COM, etc and am interested in purchasing a fault code reader. What about this: - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280582781067&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Or this: - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220778533839&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT Are they any use? Do they work? Look cheap (maybe I'm wrong?) Thanks.
the usb cable you use if you have a laptop, standalone you use if not. the usb one is more flexible as you can do things liek logging etc, plus you have the advantage of a laptop so you can have manuals, internet etc to hand
I've been looking at the stand alone ones myself as i dont have a laptop to use. Did you end up buying one in the end? I'd quite like to know what there like before i throw money at one. Cheers.
i have one of the first posted blue odb leads. not used it yet but from what i've read it won't work with the 'full' vagcom. I've only used it once so far just to see if it connected ok. . it did. I'm now considering a wifi/bluetooth one to link to my iPhone/PC.
cheap cables only work with vcds lite and 409.1 vag com. you can get 'registed' versions of these. if you want to use the later vcds full you need a different cable which is more expensive. this is because the earlier sw the licence is built into the software, and on the later ones its built into the cable
the vcds lead i have is a clone and uses vcds 10.6 as far as i can see so far it is the full version the software came with the lead and you have to use it for the lead to work and i dont think you can use vcds from there site the lead has VAG 106 on it
yes if you get a cracked cable you have to use the included version. use a newer version and it may wipe your cable for you
