The only old skool game I still play today has to be Sensible World of Soccer 96/97 on PC. I know SWOS was really a Amiga game, but I found it more fun on the PC. Older games focused on playablility, instead of the latest cutting edge 3D gaming engine. Other titles worthy or note are... SWOS - Goal Scoring Superstar Hero Cannon Fodder - War has never been so much fun Utopia - My cousin designed that game Sid Meiers Pirates (not the recent remake) Civilization - Civ 4 is out later this year Goldeneye - best FPS on any console ever!!! Street Fighter 2 Turbo on the SNES Tetris - still the best puzzle game. I recommend a visit to www.the-underdogs.org for more old skool gaming fun. Cheers, Jamie
How about Elite? Anyone who can cram 8 entire galaxies into 6 bytes of data could teach Bill Gates a thing or two about coding efficiency
elite on the acorn - black & white fun. i was so young i asked my dad what narcotics were - couldnt work out why the policeships kept chasing me
It's crazy thinking back that we could spend so much time playing a game that could fit on a console memory card now?
how did I forget Elite! I spent ages playing that on my Electron. A mad amount of stuff crammed into that game, not least 3D space!
I never got into Elite tbh, which is strange as it sounded like my kind of game. I guess some of you will be pleased to hear they are making Elite 4. Cheers, Jamie
much smaller than that! you could fit the entire memory of a 128k Spectrum (which was the max size for a game, apart from ones that loaded bit by bit) onto an 8Mb PS2 memory card 64 times over!
Yeah, heard about that. It`d bloody better be worth the wait. I wonder what spec your PC will need to be.....
The game was never about graphics, but more about playability. But the World of video games has moved on since the late '80's, so it'll need to look good before anyone wants to play it . I found this info about the game (don't get excited it's not much) www.frontier.co.uk Cheers, Jamie Edited by: Yorkie
Frontier - Elite II one one Low Density Floppy for Amiga and one High density floppy on the PC. Elite III - First encounter was appalingly bad though, makes windows ME look stable.
