Cheers Guys appreciate the comments, i am not one to give up and you words of wisdom are confirming what i am thinking thanks again
From that first pic i would say you need new CV boots, but i think that is the least of your worries, lol, proper project you got there i am glad you are having fun with it, i wish i had the space to do something similar myself.
plus if you do scrap it, you can sell that undamaged UJ boot for enough money to buy a new shell i recon
can still get panels you need from VW classic parts (search the numbers without spaces) 191 803 119 A - battery tray - €57 you might need this too, its the top chassis leg panel bit just behind the tray. depends if battery tray has enough metal on it: 191 803 107 - cover plate for side member, left front - €21
ive not used them no, but not heard anythign bad except the usual that most need a little jiggery to fit but same with all pattern panels really. VWH can order you parts from VWClassic parts as well though [so worth giving them a call see if they can do you a better deal their site has a pic of the tray, the 2nd part i mention goes from the back of that down to the bottom corner of the leg. i cant quite see in the pics if the tray alone will be enough
aye etka, they're deleted from vw but as i say vwclassic parts can stuill get the genuine parts for you. some dealers can order thru classic parts, done dont sign up for it tho. but as i say vwheritage can order from vw classic parts for you, or failing that you can order from vw classic parts direct as well
classic parts at vw. to buy direct from vw classic parts can be a pain - recently i enquired about parts and quotes duly arrived but to order the parts and pay via card was by two options - 1 . fax your card details to vw (i would not do due to fraud). 2 order by telephone - i tried this several occasions over several days and the lines were permanently engaged so i gave up and ordered the parts via bbt vw heritage which by the way was more expensive than dealing with vw direct!
Little update told you it would be slow engine bay now fully stripped and cleaned down so i can see what i am dealing with
Looks like slow but steady progress, well done. Perciverece is the key, no matter how bleak things get
Great stuff Love to see people really going to town on projects like this and saving a car from the scrappy.
well its been a while with christmas and lack of tools but a quick 2 hours session today saw the windscreen out gearbox separated from engine and some practise with the old grinder not muc i know but better progress should be made in the new year happy new year !
