Hi, im after some infomation for my Dad. Weve brought a 1,8 16v engine from a passat to go into his passat. His passat is currently a 1.8 single point injection.

We did not personly remove the enigine we brought, so we are not sure if we have everything for the convertion. We have the complete engine and gearbox, including the wiring and ecu. What over bits do we need to complete the conversion.

Also we have been thinking about converting it to carbs to make the conversion easyer. We enquired about this and found it would cost about 800 for twin 45's. Are there any cheaper options?we are not looking for high performance, just to give it a bit more power.

    All help is much appreiciated.

Old Alfas, Lancias and some Fiats(70s and 80s) have twin 40s on - most are dellortos or solexes, but some have webers. Likely to be a cheap source of the carbs, but you'll have to pay for a re-jet of the carbs. It's a bit risky though, cos you don't know if the condition of the carbs will be any good.

Not sure what other bits you'll need to do it with injection - probably the injectors, manifolds / ECU / wiring and maybe some of the fuel system - not sure how similar the SPI pressure and capactity is to the Kjet.
