I wanted to ask how difficult it is to change the front strut top mounts for the shorter ones? If it's an easy job, I may do it first before getting it lowered properly (when funds allow). I take it that it isnt just a case of jack up the front, and unbolt the old ones/ fit the new ones???? Or is it??? Would I have to remove the shocks completely etc...????? All help greatly appreciated. It's a mk3 gti by the way.
yes, remove shocks completely and you'll need spring compressors. if it's the lowering caps you're fitting, it's just a shortened top seating for the spring to sit in, so shocks out i'm afraid...
don't even try it without spring compressors..it'll take your head off so find someone whos used em before if your unsure.
k, thx, thought it would be shocks out jobbie. Probably not worth it till I get the whole lot then (springs and dampers). Any of you guys think it's worth having lowing caps on the front with the koni T/A and eibach spring combo on a mk3? or will it sit nicely without?
