Wondering if anybody could help my mk1 gti suffers severe fuel starvation when cornering (not particularly hard) with anything bellow around a quarter of a tank of fuel. Does the mk1 have a lift pump in the tank as i have heard failure of said item can cause similar problems in the mk2.

Any help would be very much appreciated

The MK1 doesn't have a lift pump. The most likely cause could be a lump of rust or a leaf in the fuel tank. Take the sender unit out the top and have a look in the tank.

    SNAP!

I've got exactly the same problem with my mk1 gti and it's happened as long as I've owned it (about 4 years) [:^(]

I've put a few posts on here but noones suggestions have helped.

It had a new fuel pump just the other week and that made no difference and I've had the sender out of the tank and there's nothing obvious like rust or anything.

Surely someone must be able to help! [xx(]
