    Hi All,

Got an 89 8v on pre ce2 lectrics...

If i want to upgrade the engine, ive been told the best and easiest way is to get a hotter cam....thats about it thats worth doing...

apparantly its too pretty much a nitemare to put a 2.0 in coz of the wiring..

What about the Supercharged G60 1.8 engine? Was it produced with the pre ce2 lectrics? therefore a straight swap?

any other suggestions due to the wiring???

    Rich

wiring isn't that bad, but why not a 2e block on your existing head/ecu?

or you could see how much designadubs would charge ya for an ABF it'd make more sense in the long run, and Matt'll be able to sort out the wiring. Gti69s goes very quick for a stock engine

The 2E block is a simple swap into a Digifant mk2 AFAIK. The PB loom should just plug into the 2E dizzy etc...You will need to keep the mk2 head to allow the fuel injection wiring to match up & ideally it needs to be a Stage 2 head to make it work effectively....

Otherwise you get a bit more torque lower down, but no more top end grunt...& it will hit a brick wall just past 5K revs!

I use a S2 head, Schrick 276, flowed inlet & 4 branch with all the usual filter/exhaust mods + a few bits & bobs & its good for 155BHP at Stealth....

It would probably do a wee bit more with a Stage 3 head but these are big bucks!!

Rich, mines a 2 litre 2E with what u might call a stage 1 head and a Piper BP270 cam, Midland VW fitted it, it goes OK but i think it'll be coming out in the not too distant future ;)

    Excellent info...

Paul i know ur is the 2.0 but was wandering if you have the pre ce2 lectrics? as ive always thought this is the problem....if its coming out, maybe we could come to an arrangement if you know what i mean??

Also...Chris - how much did that set up cost ya?

Too much!! [:$] I went for a totally rebuilt bottom end in the interests of reliability, but you could save money there & also by fitting it yourself...

The important part is the head & breathing (4 branch/flowed manifolds/cam etc) Without a decent Stage 2 or better head it will only flatter to deceive...

funky if you work it all out an ABF on a slightly modded loom will be the best power-

Aslong as its a digfart Rich it'll be no problem as you'd use the digifant head and all the injection gubbins. Think about an ABF though, not sure of the fine details, but as much as i hate to admit it i wish i'd gone down that road.

If you get the bits cheap enough then the 2 litre 8v is a good conversion if you're lookin for a fun road car. My engine needs some attention, thats why its coming out.....its been sick ever since it was fitted, goes well, but uses oil like its goin out of fashion!
