I need to change the box on the 89' 16v i've just bought, and thought while i'm at it i may as well chuck in a 9A engine. Which box would you recommend for the engine, are the 8v boxes (and clutch) strong enough or should I be looking for a 16v unit. I've noticed in the Haynes manual the GTI's have different driveshafts, will this affect my choice of gearbox as well?

Also what's a reasonable price to pay for a complete 9A engine?

That was from the Whitehouse VW breakers in Brislington, Bristol.

Was full 9A with inlet/exhaust manifolds but no throttle body/injection etc. Everything you need to convert a KR anyways. Out of a 1990 Passat GT with 70k  .

Effectively cost me 250 as I sold the 50mm inlet manifold off the KR to a guy in the US for 100 :) .

They sell the normal KR's for around the 250 mark.

Sounds like I got a really good deal then, I paid half that, but I collected it and I got most of the injection system[:D]
