I need to change the box on the 89' 16v i've just bought, and thought while i'm at it i may as well chuck in a 9A engine. Which box would you recommend for the engine, are the 8v boxes (and clutch) strong enough or should I be looking for a 16v unit. I've noticed in the Haynes manual the GTI's have different driveshafts, will this affect my choice of gearbox as well? Also what's a reasonable price to pay for a complete 9A engine? Ta
That was from the Whitehouse VW breakers in Brislington, Bristol. Was full 9A with inlet/exhaust manifolds but no throttle body/injection etc. Everything you need to convert a KR anyways. Out of a 1990 Passat GT with 70k . Effectively cost me 250 as I sold the 50mm inlet manifold off the KR to a guy in the US for 100 . They sell the normal KR's for around the 250 mark. Joe
Just to point out that was delivered to North Bristol from South Bristol not delivered anywhere in the country! Joe
Sounds like I got a really good deal then, I paid half that, but I collected it and I got most of the injection system
