    Hi peeps,

Fitted a 2nd hand recon gearbox off ebay a month ago to fix that anoying 2nd syncro problem.

Driving back from the in-laws Saturday (that'll teach me;) started making a nasty crunching banging noise.

Pulled over, loads of gear oil everywhere.
If only I hadn't chucked the old in a skip :-(

Any suggestions as to what might have happened?

And, whats the going rate to have a recon box fitted?
(coz I'm f*****d if I'm doing that again)

And finally should I take the f*****g shed for one last trip to beachy head, and then buy a volvo?

    ta very much,

    Bax

Yup, you'll find a hole in the bellhousing and loads of nice chewed up shiny bits inside......

    pants!

so I presume it will need a new gearbox then?

Is this likely to be less than 500 notes?

Tim to post "that pic" again. Look here

This was what happened to mine after a diff rivet let go, and this was a neat one. Often the whole back of the diff can come apart!

I got through two second hand boxes before the one I have now. [:^(]
