Hi, My 2.0 8v has had a recon gearbox installed before I bought the car. It's fine apart from reverse. If I go over 5 mph or put excessive load on it, it pops out. If I hold the gearstick firmly in the reverse position, there is no problem. Is this easy to rectify?
Ohh. how odd. Mine started doing that a week ago. I just though it was wear in the mechanism, will be having a look over the easter weekend. Edited by: gbolton
Does it need a firm push on the gearstick before it will go into the reverse gate? Or a very slight push or none at all? If so it could be the gearstick ball or housing under the car thats worn. Better hope it isn't because its a right btard of a job
