I'm buying an 02A gearbox over the weekend, and was just wondering if any of you knew a good place to get it reconditioned? Is the going rate for this about 3-400? I live in South London by the way. :)

Russ, while you are at it why dont you get an LSD fitted as well. I understand you are going the 20vt route from your other posts?

I've thought long and hard about the LSD.

Some people say that if you run over 200BHP you'd be mad not to fit one.

Others say it doesn't really make a difference.

I'm torn between the 2 really.

    Any advice?

BTW, who is 'Hotgolf'? Any ideas what he charges?

Hotgolf posts on here -- and is A LOT cheaper than anywhere else in the world!

I would fit a diff if i was you. I ignored peoples advice several times and have blown nearly a dozen VW diffs up (with only 170ish bhp).

I'd go with what otehrs say and get a Diff when you have it reconditioned.

Having that fitted now will be cheaper than waiting till later and having to take it all out again and stripping it all down to have it fitted.

Get it all done in one go.

Ok thanks for the advice. I've always agreed with the theory do it once, do it right.

Any ideas what Hotgolf charges? I'll drop him a PM in a minute.

So, with 280Bhp, would the quaiffe be strong enough?
