We have secured a large quantity of genuine VW / Audi / Skoda and Seat cambelt kits. They're all new in the original VW boxes, VW group put a 'use by' date on cambelt kits and some of the stock of these are approaching or near that date, we personally think it's a load of rubbish as the belts don't deteriorate if they're stored properly. We have three versions listed on our eBay shop TDi PD 1.4 / 1.9 engines - here TDi 90 / 110 TDi / SDI non PD engines - here 2.5 V6 TDi engines - here If you want one, either buy through eBay or call us on 01531 640800. Thanks.
Rubber degrades with age. If it didn't matter they wouldn't bother putting a use by date on there. What happens if you fitted one of these kits and it snapped say in 12 months? VW would just say the kit is out of date and you'd be left with a massive repair bill. I wouldn't fit one and run the risk just to save myself 40. How do you know they're correctly stored? And what does correctly stored even mean?
he said near the use by date and not 5 or 6 years past lol so vw will still have to stand by it's genuine the above kits used to sell for 180 through vw
Strange thing the 'Cambelt kits' use by date. - They have an 18 month shelf life, at that point VW dealerships have to literally throw them in the bin to stop them getting in trouble with VW. - However, you can sell and fit them the day before the sell-by-date and they can then run in a car for up to 5 years or 80k before they have to be changed, so VW are saying that they expect them to survive up to 6 1/2 years from the day they're put in the box at the factory. - 'Correctly stored' means a dry, clean environment, not a shelf near the back door that get wet every time it rains (we've seen that a number of times) VW retails prices as of today are 038 198 119 - 141.16 038 198 119E - 212.10 059 198 119B - 283.87 So, we think they represent excellent value, you pays your money......
