Took my MK2 to the local dealership when I first had it to set the ignition timing, it was a 1.6 carb and the bloke set it to GTI settings, 50 down the drain. Should have bought a stroboscope instead. /rant.

Thinking about it was probably 3-4 years ago I was there. Can't 100% remember.. I recall the estate was on the right of the road that we came off and the entrance to the estate was up a hill which then opened up into various units etc. The Landrover guy was in a smallish yard with a tidy workshop and was building a Bowler or similar when I was there... loads of Breakers etc outside.
I'm sure there was a VAG guy on or near there.

Where do the guys of VAG wales go? A lot of them are from down that neck of the woods aren't they?

And Keith Lemon... Did you have a Black MK2 years back with Blue flashing LED valve covers cruising Rhyl Prom?

:clap::clap::clap::clap: NO haha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;) i`ve never actually cruised rhyl prom and ive never ever had nasty enhancements such as that [shudders at the thought] = i can just about place the car you are on about

as far as the vagwales boyos i think the ones who don`t know how to work on cars use duck tape rather than mechancs

I live in Peterborough, Cambs. I am new to golfs, just got my Mk2 8v. So looking for good places to go for work, especially bodywork.

I had my account deleted there for not posting... I'd just read in and nose:lol::o

He used to be on the Prom with his MK2 when I'd come out the Cinema or the Indian. His passenger used to give it the "VW" thing with his fingers whilst hanging out the window:lol:

definitely not me, when was this?

i banned myself from there due to cowboys doing dangerous things to cars in-order to look hip..

i reckon mr alpinewhite should give Wilsons a buzz and have a natter with him about his issues, they are good like that in Wilsons fair doos - i`m sure a day out in sunny rhyl would be endurable if he knew he would get a working mk2 back.

    Wild guess 2000/2001 ish?

I'd recommend Wilsons aswell.. I never had any problems with them when I used them.. Seemed very straight and a no Bull**** kind of guy. Takes time to explain stuff aswell if asked/needed. Not been in in ages since MK2s in storage but wouldn't hesitate in going back.

    Hi Keith

Thanks for the advice about Wilsons in Rhuddlan. I think I will pop over and see them at some point after my RR session.

    Cheers Alpenweiss2:)

I have a fairly good local specialist, I think he's known as rubjonny to you lot.

To be fair, I wouldn't recommend a garage that I've ever been pleased with. Gave up and bought a socket set instead.

rather than have a wasted journey give him a call, he is seriously nice bloke and will chat about your probs with you. you really need to tell him that you just aren`t getting the car set up correctly by non specialists

is there any reason you wont have a fiddle yourself?

theres plenty of us willing to talk you through small jobs..and the tools will cost less than the garage charges , after a while you will have a good selection of tools and tackle all these things easily

i dont do much myself, im limited to space, tools, know how... plus i like to believe someone else who knows what they are doing will do a much better job than me... going to have a crack at a few bits soon mind you... if your new to that sort of thing and none of your mates are any help its quite daunting!
